Today Airwave, provider of Great Britain's emergency service radio communications network, has announced that it has made a £1m equity investment in Kelvin Connect, a provider of mobile data management systems specifically developed for organisations with a professional, mobile workforce, with a special focus on the law enforcement and healthcare sectors. The deal is an extension of an existing partnership between the two organisations that has already proved highly successful in the UK police market.
Based in Glasgow, Kelvin Connect was established in 2002 to commercialise technology developed at the University of Glasgow. Kelvin Connect provides a complete mobile information system enabling professionals to capture, process and report on complex business processes.
In law enforcement, the system enables police officers to make notes, complete statements and complete forms covering every one of their processes. This removes the burden of paper work for front line officers and streamlines or removes back-office processes, returning officers to front-line policing for at least an extra hour per shift.
The investment builds on an existing relationship between the two companies - Kelvin Connect already partners solely with Airwave to deliver its system through the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) Accelerator Package. This offers Airwave police customers by far the most comprehensive and effective data-capture, processing and reporting solution.
Richard Bobbett, CEO at Airwave, commented: "The demand for effective mobile information is growing rapidly within the police and law enforcement arena. Airwave recognises that to meet this demand there is a role for best of breed providers such as Kelvin Connect. There are clear synergies between the sectors in which Airwave and Kelvin Connect operate and we believe that this investment will add to our broad emergency services experience with the detailed mobile data capture expertise which Kelvin Connect already has."
Simon Hardy, CEO at Kelvin Connect, added: "This deal is driven by powerful synergies that will yield great benefits to the two companies and our customers. The combined solution that it will enable Airwave to offer to the market is by far the most proven and comprehensive. Kelvin Connect has found it easy to work effectively with Airwave and we are delighted to have them as our strategic partner."
